It’s been a whirlwind, and somehow October is basically here.

I wanted to bump our plan to get together one more time before Ligaya Fest on October 10 in Metuchen.

Are folks still able to connect this Tuesday? I’ve also added some availability for the following week in case that works better for everyone.

We’d love to use the hour to catch up, talk through what FANHS NJ’s presence at Ligaya Fest could look like, and generally compare notes on all things Filipino in New Jersey this October as we head into Filipino American History Month.

There is a LOT happening.

And after the last few weeks, I’m increasingly interested in how FANHS NJ can help connect people to what’s already happening across our community, while we continue figuring out what we want to build together.

You don’t need to have attended either of our previous conversations.

If you’re interested in Filipino American history, culture and community in New Jersey and want to be part of what we’re building, you’re welcome.

Ligaya Fest 2026 is happening Saturday, October 10 from 2–6 PM, followed by a dance party from 6–8 PM, all at The Studio Ligaya in Metuchen.

And FANHS NJ will be there! (getting people to sign up at fanhsnj.org).

This will be our first opportunity to show up together during Filipino American History Month — to meet more of our community, introduce people to FANHS, share what we’ve been building, and invite more folks into the chapter.

We’re still not thinking about this as some big, formal “launch.” We’re building this chapter the same way we’ve been building it so far: by showing up, meeting people, listening, and connecting the dots.

So come find us. Hang out. Meet some of the people who have been part of these early conversations. Learn a little more about FANHS. Celebrate Filipino American History Month with us.

And, of course, bring somebody who should know about FANHS NJ.
